Search Overflow

About Search Overflow

A report you can act on without checking it first.

Every number traces back to something we read.

Search Overflow started from an uncomfortable observation. Most SEO tools return a green tick for checks they never actually ran, and most AI visibility tools state a confident answer where they had no evidence.

01 — Principle

A thing we didn't check should never look like a thing that's fine.

If a check could not run, the report says so and names what would fix it. That's why every claim traces back to a source, why nobody can force one through without it, and why the catalogue tells you what each check reads before you pay for any of it.

02 — Method

How we decide what to tell you

Every number we report has to trace back to something we actually observed. A check either ran and produced a result, or it didn't run and we tell you what's missing. There's no third option where a check quietly counts as a pass because nothing went wrong — which is how most tools end up green on pages they never looked at.

The same rule governs this website. When we say 73 SEO checks run today, that number comes directly from what actually runs, not from a number someone typed into a page — if the two ever disagree, we catch it before it ships. We added that check after finding a claim on our own site that the code did not support, and the correction is written up in the changelog alongside everything else we have taken back. What a scan gives you, and where it stops, is in the documentation.

03 — Audience

Who this is for

People who need to know whether AI assistants can actually read their site, and who would rather see a short honest list than a long confident one. If you want a tool that reports a high score to make a report look good, we are the wrong choice, because the scoring deliberately refuses to reward pages it could not inspect.

04 — Boundaries

What we deliberately leave to other tools

These are real products and other people build them well. We stay out of them on purpose: a tool that audits your claims should not be in the business of inventing them. below.
